I honestly think that the debates about how few female characters appear in Tolkien's writings, meaning he set aside women, are quite overthought and strained. I just can't think of a female character who is not a strong personality, or at least doesn't play an important role in the storylines. Just take Idril for example. She passes through an icy trail, endures the loss of her mother, marries her love, and listens to her senses even when no one else around her does so. All in all, she is just cool. I definitely think she was skilled in weaponry and wouldn't just sit on her skirts when her home was under threat.
How I missed drawing pointy ears, oh my.

Background with pencils and GIMP, figure lineart drawn in pencil, shaded in GIMP, slightly edited in Photoshop CS5. And I still don't know how to blend figures in a background realistically. I would really appreciate advice.
